Scholarship

The Details

All NROTC scholarships pay for FULL tuition and $375 per semester for textbooks. Room and board must be paid or financed by the student.  Midshipmen are paid for summer training as well as official travel and also receive a monthly tax-free stipend for 10 months during the school year as a Freshman and Sophomore and then continuously during their Junior and Senior years as follows:

Freshman – $250
Sophomore – $300
Junior – $350
Senior – $400

At Cornell, this scholarship could amount to over $40,000 a year, or nearly $180,000 for four years. All scholarship programs lead to a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy or a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Scholarships are offered as either a Navy or Marine Corps option, which must be chosen during the application process. Both Navy and Marine Corps scholarship options provide identical benefits and requires the same service obligation.
